"The late Ambassador Annenberg and I shared a deep and long-standing commitment to education and citizenship. I have every confidence that the Center's educational programs will give dynamic expression to the ideals and responsibilities of American citizenship." - Mrs. Walter H. Annenberg
The generous $10 million gift from the Annenberg Foundation has enabled the National Constitution Center to create The Annenberg Center for Education and Outreach. The goal of the Annenberg Center is to provide people and especially teachers and school children throughout the world with educational materials, programs, and activities to better understand the Constitution and the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.
A committed philanthropist, dedicated civic leader, and patron of the fine arts, Mrs. Annenberg is representative of all that embodies the spirit and hope of America.
"I hope the center helps educate Americans, especially the young, about the country's origins"- Richard DeVos.
Rich DeVos is a man who has touched the lives of hundreds of thousands of people throughout his storied business career, and as a result of his long commitment to philanthropy. Born of humble beginnings and raised with a rich sense of values, Mr. DeVos' life is truly an example of an American success story. He is a rugged individualist whose optimism and persistence have made him a renowned entrepreneur, and most importantly, a marvelous inspiration to others.
In honor of the DeVos' generous gift of $10 million, the NCC has named its permanent exhibit hall the Richard and Helen DeVos Exhibit Hall.
Richard and Helen DeVos, of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Manalapan, Florida, support a variety of causes and organizations through their personal foundation. Richard DeVos is co-founder of Alitcor and owner and chairman of the NBA Orlando Magic.
"One of my goals is to leverage my giving so that its impact carries beyond the cutting of the ribbon…This theater will enable millions of visitors, especially school children -- and most particularly Philadelphia school children -- to learn about our Constitution and how it helps to preserve our way of life, something never more precious in our country [than] today ..." - Sidney Kimmel
In honor of Mr. Kimmel's generous $5 million gift to the endowment, the National Constitution Center has named our two-story, multi-screen theater "The Kimmel Theater." With its 360-degree multi-media presentation featuring a live actor, the theater will introduce an estimated 1 million visitors a year to the story of the Constitution.
In 1993, Mr. Kimmel established the Sidney Kimmel Foundation, which since its creation, has committed over $300 million to support health care, education, arts and culture.
